Rosemary Salerno, a Kansas City native, works as a commercial and residential realtor with local real estate firm, Aristocrat Realty. Salerno is also the owner/operator of the Vintage Market Days of Kansas City franchise. Vintage Market Days is an upscale, vintage-inspired market featuring vendors from all over the country. Salerno promotes and manages two VMD pop-up vendor events annually in the greater Kansas City area. From 2018 through 2020, Salerno served as Vice President and General Manager of City Market in Kanas City. During her tenure, Salerno managed all operations and marketing for the historic market, which has served as a springboard for small business in the community for more than 160 years. From 2004 through 2018, Salerno was the general manager of Zona Rosa, Kansas City’s urban town center at I-29 and Barry Road. As general manager for nearly fourteen years, she was responsible for supervising the daily operations and marketing for Zona Rosa, as well as overseeing the property management team and integrating Zona Rosa into the Northland community.
Prior to joining Zona Rosa, Salerno was general manager/marketing manager of Prime Outlets at Odessa, Mo., overseeing the property’s daily operations and marketing. She served as general manager/marketing manager at Prime Outlets at Odessa for nine years, beginning with the center's grand opening in 1995.
A lifelong Northlander, Salerno graduated from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, majoring in communication studies with a minor concentration in music. In July 1992, Salerno was awarded a professional certificate in Legal Assistance from the same university. In 2003, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2011 and 2014, Salerno was awarded Maxi Merit (Silver) Awards from the International Council of Shopping Centers for outstanding shopping center marketing efforts. In October 2007, she was awarded the prestigious MAXI Gold award for the Return of the Fairy Princess at Zona Rosa. Salerno took home a second ICSC MAXI Gold award in May 2016 for the innovative program, Orange Wednesday. In 2017, Salerno was awarded her third MAXI Gold Award at Zona Rosa for her unique and effective social media marketing. For the first time in the history of ICSC a ‘special distinction’ was also awarded to Salerno and the center in 2017, recognizing the entry “The 12 Days of Facebook Live” as the highest scoring entry spending the least amount of money. In 2010, the Zona Rosa Community Foundation was awarded the ICSC Foundation’s US Community Support Award – receiving not only the central region prize, but also the national award.
Salerno is an accomplished professional cellist and performs with a variety of groups. Because of her involvement in the Northland Symphony Orchestra over the years, the principal cellist seat is forever endowed as the “Rosemary Salerno Chair”. Salerno also is a proud graduate of the FBI Citizens Academy and the KCPD Citizens Police Academy. In 2012, she was named an inductee to the Winnetonka High School Hall of Fame. In 2020, she received her real estate license (Missouri & Kansas) and became a licensed realtor.
